This is a private workspace for the SE FireMap Technical Oversight Team (Team), an advisory body to the current project funder, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, as well as its cooperative agreement partner the Endowment for Forestry and Communities and subawardee the Longleaf Alliance (these three collectively known as the Project Managers). In August 2019, applicants to the Team were solicited from partners and experts across the Southeastern U.S. Based on application forms and input from stakeholders, members were selected from among applicants responding to a Statement of Interest circulated by the Endowment for Forestry and Communities. The selected members possess relevant technical skills and experience, as well as networking capacity in the fire science community throughout the U.S., to support the SE FireMap project and ensure its success. This folder contains documentation relevant to the Beta version of the SE FireMap Tool that was released In 2021. This beta version of the SE FireMap tool was built in Google Earth Engine and featured a fire history dataset that was derived from the USGS Burned Area (v2) Products (Hawbaker et al. 2020) and represents years between 1994-2022. Processing by Tall Timbers Research, Inc. resulted in annual rasters and vectors indicating burn presence (with 90-100% probability) for groups of pixels greater than approximately 2.45 acres.

The SE FireMap 1.0 is a new fire mapping system for the Southeastern United States. Developed with funding provided by the USDA NRCS, SE FireMap uses a remote sensing-based approach to track both prescribed fire and wildfire activity on public and private lands across the range of the longleaf pine.
