CalRecycle Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF)

CalRecycle established the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Grant and Loan Programs to provide financial incentives for capital investments in infrastructure for aerobic composting, anaerobic digestion and recycling and manufacturing facilities that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) receives Cap-and-Trade auction proceeds appropriated by the Legislature and Governor for projects that support the goals of AB 32.

Treatments to more than 3,100 acres helped create a defensible space for fire fighters to protect four communities during the 2018 Ferguson Fire. This Joint Chiefs’ project helped in reducing fuel loads and removing hazard trees in the wildland urban interface. These practices are critical in reducing the threat of catastrophic wildfire to local communities and sensitive habitats.
