Appalachian Mountains Joint Venture
The Appalachian Mountains Joint Venture (AMJV) is one of 18 habitat Joint Venture partnerships in the United States. It is comprised of state and federal government agencies, non-governmental organizations, universities, and industries that work together to prioritize and coordinate conservation activities while building upon scientific knowledge. They work with researchers and resource managers to design and implement effective conservation projects for native bird species throughout their annual life cycles, targeting breeding, migration, and over-wintering areas.

Appalachian Regional Reforestation Initiative
The Appalachian Regional Reforestation Initiative (ARRI) is a coalition of groups, including citizens, the coal industry, and government dedicated to restoring forests on coal mined lands in the Eastern United States. ARRI was established in early 2004 with the formation of the Core Team. The Core Team's responsibilities include outreach, trainings, event planning, monthly meetings to discuss progress reports and new strategies, among other things.
